This is our enamleware kettle. It probably holds five gallons, but we never boil that much wort at once. In the future, we hope to have a large, stainless steel kettle heated by a large propane burner.

In this picture, it is filled with iodated water to sterilize some equipment.

I use my five gallon pan solely for the purposes of mashing the grain. I get it up to temperature then take it off the heat and wrap it in a duvet. This allows me time to have a beer from a previous batch without me having to hover over the pan checking temps all the time. I then drain of the liquid (wort) into an electric five gallon boiler, with plenty of sparging to make up the full five gallons, you gotta sparge haven't you? (Adding water later to make up the volume doesn't seem to give very good results). Sling in the hops (not pellets) and boil.
Good drinking. Cheers.
